Mike Huckabee - 2008 Elections

While on the road today, the radio was all abuzz about how all the media is all abuzz about Mike Huckabee. I’ve heard his name before, but I didn’t know much about him before today. As I understand it, like Ron Paul, Huckabee hasn’t been given much attention by the media. However, since he’s a front runner in the Iowa caucus, he can’t be ignored. So who is he, and what does he stand for?

From his candidacy website, I was able to learn that Mike Huckabee is very religious, athletic, musical, and politically accomplished, but I didn’t get a clear view of his running platform. I get the idea that he is concerned with healthcare, but I was unable to learn his opinions towards fiscal policy and social issues. My guess is that his politics would be guided by his religion. While this would be seen as a great thing by some, others may find it discomforting. What do you think?

I think we have seen what a government run by religion can do. It is safe to say that a majority of America does not want another President Bush or personally motivated war. I think its great that cadidates are expressing their own religion and I have no problem electing a candidate that is religious. I do however have a problem with a candidate who makes decisions for a country filled with different religions based soley on their own. It depends on the campaign run and how much a candidate bases their decisions on their personal view or what’s best for a nation.
