Romney's Mormon Church LDS Temple

Here’s a picture of the Mormon Church LDS Temple in Belmont, Massachusetts, which I believe Romney played a role in building. As I understand it, Belmont has a restriction on how high a building can be, while Mormon churches LDS Temples tend to be very tall.

Mormons are so ignorant. They supported President Bush as an evangelical Christian and spoke highly of him. Then as soon as “one of their own” begins a campaign, they have nothing but ignorant and rude comments about the evangelical candidate. This shows their shallow thinking. I encourage all people of all faiths and non-faiths to look at what the Mormon church believes. They believe they will become “gods” of their own planets if they live a righteous life. There are many other weird teachings in the Mormon church. I was raised Mormon in Utah for 25 years. I am related to Brigham Young. I know exactly how WRONG the teachings of the Mormon church are. Do not vote for Romney. You will be sorry!

For a year Romney has tried to demonstrate to the Evangelicals that his beliefs did coincide with their beliefs. He spent millions to get that message spread, and adequately had their support up until a couple weeks ago. The huge surge of Huckabee can partially be attributed to his (and McCains) attacking of Mormon Beliefs. Many Evangelical Christians believe with all their hearts that Mormons are nothing but a devilish anti-Christ cult. There have been all kinds of emails, phone calls, and post cards sent to Iowa and NH voters that contained nothing but anti-mormon half truths and lies. There was even one postcard sent to people that was supposedly from “the Mormon Temple” that had an out of context Book of Mormon Scripture. Huckabee is using this Mormon hatred to portray himself as the savior, and greatly encourage the “mormon haters” to get out and caucus for him. When interviewed, Huckabee acts as if he knows nothing of the Mormon Faith. The fact is that he has a history of being a supporter for anti-mormon movements. If the front runner Romney, was not of the Mormon faith, Huckabee wouldn’t have been victorious in Iowa. Huckabee wouldn’t have the overwhelming support if he did not campaign from church to church and have that extra kick of Mormon hatred. There is no better way to rile someone up than to play into their religious feelings.

Personly I don’t believe religion should be a factor in teh presidential elections. No matter what religion a candidate is, there should be a separation of church and state and moreoever, this country is built on religious freedoms. The tragedy here is the ignorance displayed by individuals who have not gained the compacity for cultural respect. Everyone has different beliefs and morals, that’s how the world works. Instead of tearing others apart, we need to appreciate the differences and respect each other. So what if there is a Muslim or a Mormon running for president? I doubt those candidates are running for the sole purpose of targeting everyone else because they have been ‘raised their whole life to despise us’…seriously, come on.

Hi D - Could you please explain your statement “You all bring shame upon yourselves.” If you read this blog, you’d find that there in not a single derogatory remark against Mitt Romney, or his religion. You are the third person to comment here in a reactionary, defensive manner, and I have no idea why. If someone could please explain what they find offensive I would really appreciate it.

Wow! How low can a country politics go? You all bring shame upon yourselves. Religion and faith are important to everyone. Let us all respect that. Our country stands for freedom. Lets rejoice in that. We can practice our religion however we choose that is what makes america soo great! Lets focus on the canidates merits! There honesty, if Mitt has “Flip-flopped” let us look upon how he speaks about it. It does a lot for me when he comes right out and says “I was wrong!” How many politicans say that? Or in his speech on religon when he said, “If my religon loses me votes so be it!” Look at the issues everyone stands on and content of their whole being. We love the founding fathers because of WHO they were not because they all had different religions. I am not going to tell anyone who to vote for.. Wake up and listen .. Honestly..

My thoughts on the whole campaign: I believe Hilary will be the democratic nominee and it is my feeling the only way to beat her in the general election is to nominate one of two people: Mitt Romney or Giuliani. This is my logic: People want great change in America and a clean break from Bush; democrats and republicans alike. If Huckabee is the nominee, Hilary will convince voters that if you think Bush brought too much religion into the white house, then watch out…Huckabee will be worse. He is having success in the “Bible Belt” states but I feel that some of his poor decisions as Gov. will ultimately be his downfall. Fred Thompson I feel would make a decent VP but he lacks the support and to be frank, the knowledge of crucial issues. He is also too much like Bush. Ron Paul: Ron Paul who? No, I’m just joking. Paul can sure raise a lot of money in one day…what was it, $6 million? Wow! But his views and some of the policies he wants to introduce are neither pro-democrat nor pro-republican. He is by far the worst debater in the republican race. Hilary would be a shoe-in if Ron Paul was the rep nominee. John McCain has a lot of experience and has a good consistent record to back it up. His downfall is his lack of organization. He spent something like $36 million during this campaign and not much to show for it. Also, the man tends to be a hot-head. I feel that if nominated, the Hilary team will find a way to hit a nerve and make him explode. He will say something very un-presidential and look stupid. Giuliani and Romney have the money, support, and organization. Out of Giuliani and Romney, I feel that Romney has the better shot at beating Hilary. The logic behind my theory: Giuliani has many personal skeletons in his closet. Hilary will find them, exploit them, and make him look unfit and unworthy to run the country. He is tough on crime and terror and I personally think he is running his campaign very savvy by not attacking anyone and playing the “American’s Mayor” card. But I feel that his stance on abortion, gay rights, and his scandalous personal life will play a big role with conservatives. Hilary vs. Giuliani would be a very close race and it would be anyone’s ballgame. I only hope and pray that Giuliani wins if these two meet. Romney vs. Hilary on the other hand would make for a very interesting presidential race. The first woman nominee and the first Mormon nominee. Their views differ drastically on almost every issue. All the democrats will vote for Hilary and the same with the republicans voting for Romney. I feel that the presidential debates will be important and will sway enough independents towards Romney because he is the best debater and orator. Hilary is a politician. Romney is a business man/politician/leader. He is charming and likable, presidential and has a history of success. Hilary will probably play the “Mormon” card against Romney, kind of like the “Kindergarten” card she played against Obama. It will only hurt her in the end. In general, I believe that the voters will not judge the nominee on religion but on experience, views on critical matters, and their integrity. The only hope for Hilary is to make Romney out to be a “flip-flopper,” and I must admit, he seemed to have changed his views on certain issues. But I’m confident that if given the opportunity to explain himself, the American voting population will understand and sympathize. I see this race being close but not as close as a Hilary vs. Giuliani race. Romney wins by almost double digits.

And hi Dave, I’m confused by your comment - nowhere on this entire site is any issue raised about Romney’s religion. Could you explain why you are upset?

Its pretty sad when the religion of aomebody running for president isn’t an issue until somebody from the LDS faith decideds to join the race….its really pathetic when the world, or in this matter this so-called free country judges somebody for their faith rather than what they’ve done and what they are capable of doing in the future…come on people, GROW UP!…respect people for who they are and what they’ve done, don’t judge them for what they believe.

I wanna know how come everyone is attacking you for your mormon religion but not Obahma for being a MUSLIM!!! I mean WAKE UP AMERICA how do u think our country will be ran if their is someone who was raised his whole life to despise us, someone who can’t even show respect to our great country when saying The Pledge of Alligeance, I think someone needs to attack his background before they attack yours. I want someone to bring this little fact to the rest of America. I was shocked to see Oprah backing him and now have boycotted her in my family. Thank You
