What’s the story, Morning Glory?

I don’t think I’ve seen such a vicious, heated battle, since the Red Sox vs. Yankees game I went to in New York City at Yankees Stadium in 2001. It wasn’t so much the battle between the teams, but more the battle between the fans.

Seems to be the same way with the battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. While both have taken shots at each other, its their supporters who appear to be the most emotional. When the Democratic Committee deciding to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida at half-weight, the Clinton supporters were outraged.

On the flip-side, its the Obama supporters, or the Clinton detractors, who keep claiming her campaign as over, while she keeps denying it.

Obviously, the Democratic Party is having issues figuring out who to support. How will this affect the race for office in November?

Also note, there have been a bunch of comments on this blog about Barack Obama’s past, his faith, etc., and I just want to remind our readers that we’re not responsible for the opinions and beliefs of others, and do our best to publish what we can, without offending anyone too greatly.

Super Delegate, Super Defection

Maybe not so “super” for Clinton, but for Obama, yes. The news keeps trickling out about more super-delegates announcing their support for Obama, and even renouncing their support for Clinton and changing their tune to support Obama.

The naysayers about Clinton are turning out to be accurate in their predictions so far. It would take a total disaster / fiasco to stop the Obama train from going all the way to nomination.

Will she give up?

Do you think Hillary Clinton will give up the race to Senator Obama? I’m not so sure myself. She’s made a lot of headway in the past few months, but in ways I’m not confident she’s proud of.

When I learned about how she’s loaned her campaign an additional $6 million, I wonder how she’ll get paid back? Will people donate money to her campaign when they feel its a lost cause, just to help her repay a loan to herself? That’s the impression I get, but who knows?

Clinton Indiana, Obama North Carolina

In case you missed it, Clinton won Indiana, and Obama won North Carolina. These results were expected, and they don’t really change much as far as delegates go.

Clinton Taking PA? By how much?

The big news tonight is Hillary’s lead in the Pennsylvania primary, but the more important factor is by how much. The news doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, but the critical component is whether she won by enough to sway the tide of their party to choose a candidate.

Oh magic eight ball - “outlook not so clear”?

About-face on Mitt Romney, and the Pig Book

A conservative about-face on Mitt Romney, and the Big Pig Book

This is a link to an LA Times article about the opposition to a McCain and Romney ticket, as well as the release of the Big Pig books which details Clinton as the Pork Barrel Queen and McCain as not having any pork barrel spending - way to go McCain!

Clintons’ Millions

They could make a movie out of this!

McCain’s Running Mate

While Clinton and Obama continue to duke it out, I’m really curious who McCain will choose as his running mate. Given the state of the economy lately, I’m feeling like Romney is a more likely possibility.

One Australian’s View of Obama

I read this blog for a variety of reasons and was pleased to find an insightful post on Obama:

http://etbe.coker.com.au/2008/03/18/barak-obama-wants-a-national-cto/

I love the idea of government using open document formats - and have been pleasantly surprised at how the US government has been quite willing to consider open source software as well. Additionally, the US government has traditionally made its “creative works” part of the public domain, including photographs, and even stamp artwork from the USPS. However, the USPS started copyrighting their works a couple decades ago, but I digress.

From what I’ve seen of local politics, government CTO’s are not much more than spokespersons, but who knows, maybe a national CTO would be different.

The Upcoming DNC

This Democratic National Convention is going to be interesting, to say the least. Many people are already referring to the 1968 DNC in Chicago, where riots broke out between war protesters and police - which I’m not sure is a relevant comparison.

It is going to be interesting in my humble opinion because it might just pit the people versus the political establishment. By saying that, I mean that it will be very interesting if Obama wins the popular vote among democrats to get on their ticket, but the “super” delegates put Hillary on it.

The “dream ticket” that the Clintons mentioned with Obama as VP came as a surprise to me, as I’m sure it did Barack, and I can only perceive it as a dream ticket for the republicans - maybe Hillary is on the GOP take to mess with the dems’ campaign? Wouldn’t that be interesting! I mean with a republican candidate as democrat-friendly as McCain - would it even be necessary?

Speaking of the GOP and McCain, I haven’t heard anything about McCain’s campaign financing issues which were mentioned recently. Maybe it will surface again once he’s chosen a running mate. I don’t think we’ll hear much directly from his campaign until he’s officially announced as the republican candidate anyway. Frankly I’m hoping that he picks Ron Paul, but I’m doubtful. If people are concerned about his age, he’ll probably pick someone younger. I’ve heard mention that he’ll pick Romney, but I seriously doubt it.
